Dozens of veterans and many more residents will enjoy improved accessibility to the Wallangarra RSL Sub-Branch, thanks to a large recent grant.

Leader of The Nationals and Member for Maranoa, David Littleproud said he is pleased the Wallangarra Returned Services League (RSL) Sub-Branch has been awarded $29,238 under the 2024-25 Veteran Wellbeing Grants (VWG) program.

The funding will go towards concreting the Sub-Branch carpark and pathways, to improve accessibility for 70 veterans, particularly those with limited mobility.

Mr Littleproud said the VWG program was important, to maintain and improve the independence and quality of life for members of the veteran community.

“Our veterans are our heroes and deserve to be looked after in every way possible,” Mr Littleproud said.

“Projects that help our veterans improve their social wellbeing and community involvement are crucial, not just for our veterans but the wider community.”

Wallangarra Sub-Branch president Dennis Pollard said the grant will make the carpark and access to the RSL hall easier for elderly members and visitors to navigate.

“We are a small Sub-Branch in a very small village, right on the state border, so we find there is a need to help not only the Ex-Service community, but also the population of Wallangarra,” Mr Pollard said.
