It was the talking point of the Southern Downs last week when more than one structure was significantly damaged or threatened by fire in central Warwick.

What is known as "Acacia Lodge" was alight at 2am on January 8 and the adjacent Chung Hing Chinese Restaurant and The Coffee Club, both on Albion Street, were also impacted.

A source, who wishes to remain unnamed, told our newspaper that crews were to be commended for "keeping the blaze under control and preventing more damage".

The local ambulance station was also close to the impact. The cause of the fire remains under investigation as the cleanup continues.
