Christmas has come early for a Warwick resident who has pocketed almost $1.7 million in last Saturday’s Gold Lotto jackpot.

Confirmed as a “last minute entry,” the ticket was sold at Hynes newsagency in Palmerin Street.

The mother and her son, who made the winning discovery, reportedly “screamed” with joy at what Peter Hynes told us would be “life-changing”.

“It’s really good that (the win) went to local person,” he said. “This is our second winning ticket sold in the last six months.”

When The Lott confirmed the prize, the winning Mum further said they were “quite emotional”.

“We’re slowly realising it’s a reality,” her son added. “It’ll set my mum up completely. She can do some things she’s always dreamed of.

“(Mum) asked me to check the ticket through my App, and I couldn’t believe it. I just started screaming and crying for her. She wasn’t even going to buy a ticket this week but changed her mind (on) Saturday morning … (and) we’ve put the ticket straight in a safe.”

The winning numbers in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4597 were 45, 4, 10, 40, 41 and 14, while the supplementary numbers were 3 and 6.

Across Australia, there were four division one winning entries in the same draw – three from Queensland and one from Victoria.

The local Mum said she will “pay the Rates early,” with the windfall.
