The Jumpers and Jazz in July festival, from July 17-27, kicked off in spectacular style last Thursday and organisers continue to marvel at how many visitors have packed into events and admired all that's on display.

Southern Downs Regional Mayor, Melissa Hamilton told our newspaper she had a "fabulous time" at the Laneway Party (on Friday, July 18).

"I love seeing the dancers who come back every year for jazz and swing," she said. "The wonderful Pam Burley helped me arrange a special touch for my opening night outfit - a knitted rose corsage and red rose boots. Perfect to show pride in both the Rose City and the festival which brings friends, colour and happiness to our region."

Here's some other comments from the streets:

"I love all the jazz and the vibe (of JJJ)," said Sally from Brisbane. "Wouldn't miss it for the world."

"The bands are awesome and so is the chance to dance under sunny skies this year. We support our friends who play each time. We wish we lived in Warwick so as to get involved in playing (in the bands) ourselves," Irene said.

"The cars are classic and we needed time to really appreciate them. Well done to all who volunteered," Tom said.

"St Mary's Church, and the other churches, are to be commended for opening their doors in such a colourful and engaging way," Anne from Tenterfield said.
