Di Blessing stepped out of hospital on the Gold Coast on June 9, thankful to the small army of help received when her and husband, Keith, endured an almost-fatal home invasion on June 4.

"This horrific incident has left us shattered," she said, confirming personal outpatient care following stabbing-wound injuries, while Keith also recovers post-surgery.

"Keith is in a stable condition and is receiving the very best comprehensive treatment for multiple stab wounds as well as post-operative care for internal organ damage," Ms Blessing said.

Together they thanked "000 operators, the police and paramedics who responded quickly and professionally to a situation of unknown danger to themselves... the teams of the Westpac Rescue helicopters who landed in a paddock with unknown obstacles in the blackness of night, the emergency, ICU and trauma teams at the Gold Coast University Hospital" and all hospital staff.

Ms Blessing acknowledged her husband, describing him as her "hero".

"There can surely be no greater love than shielding and protecting a loved one," she said. "Without him I believe I would not be alive today."

The couple also acknowledged their family, including two daughters, many friends and the community.

"Our local community at Torrington have set up a donations page for us, and we've decided that money raised by this fund will be donated to the Westpac Rescue Helicopters."

Emergency services were called to the Blessing's property, 65km south-west of Tenterfield, after they had been attacked by a 34 year-old male who has been named and charged.

Tenterfield Shire Mayor Bronwyn Petrie has remained in contact with the Blessings who have asked for privacy to allow rest and recovery.
